Celebrating Paola: A Senior Portrait Session at The Historic Pearl

Three years ago, I had the joy of capturing Paola’s radiant spirit during her Quinceañera portraits at the enchanting Landa Library. That day, her beauty and grace shone brightly, and now, as a stunning senior from Reagan High School, she’s ready to take on the world. Photographing her senior session at The Historic Pearl was nothing short of magical—a moment to celebrate her journey as she prepares to study nursing at UTSA. Paola embodies the strength and virtue of the Proverbs 31 woman: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come” (Proverbs 31:25). Her heart for helping others and her unwavering determination make her a true inspiration.

As Paola steps into this new chapter, I’m reminded of I Wish Someone Had Told Me…, a wonderful book by Dana Perino filled with mentoring wisdom. Inspired by its guidance, I want to share three pieces of advice for Paola as she embarks on her dream of becoming a nurse:

Embrace Challenges as Growth Opportunities – Nursing school will stretch you, but each hurdle is shaping you into the compassionate caregiver you’re meant to be. Trust that God’s plan is unfolding, even in the tough moments. I wish someone had told me that struggles are not setbacks but stepping stones to resilience.
Build a Community of Support – Surround yourself with friends, mentors, and professors who uplift you. Your Quinceañera and senior sessions showed your warmth and ability to connect—lean on that gift to create a network that sustains you. I wish someone had told me how vital it is to have a tribe that cheers you on.
Stay True to Your Purpose – Your heart for nursing reflects the Proverbs 31 woman’s care for others. When the workload feels heavy, remember why you started: to serve and heal. I wish someone had told me to keep my “why” at the center, as it will guide you through every challenge.

Paola, your journey from that radiant Quinceañera to this poised senior is just the beginning. As you step into UTSA, know that you carry the strength, dignity, and joy of a Proverbs 31 woman. I’m so excited to see how you’ll shine as a nurse, touching countless lives with your care and compassion. Congratulations, beautiful Paola, on this incredible milestone!
